Sweet,western romance short story.
Breed Morgan didn't want a bride, but his sister-in-law, Sissy Morgan, arranged for his mail order bride just like she promised his Pa she would. Being the man he was, when Breed read Susan Bradley's letters and the abuse she was living through at her uncle's hand after her father's death, he couldn't turn his back on her. Vowing he would marry her, but in name only, to protect her from her uncle and Benton Giles, he promised himself he would send her back home when all was settled.
Susan Bradley was thankful that Breed and his family helped her escape the nightmare she was living. She felt free for the first time since her father's death. When she met Breed, he took her breath away. He was strong and handsome, but refused to consumate their marriage, vowing to keep her safe until she could return home. The only problem with that was, she didn't want him to send her away, but wanted him to love her for the rest of her life.

This is an excellent story and was very interesting. It included an uncle who held his niece captive and tried to force her to marry a nasty guy. She was to inherit her late father's money when she married. Nothing was left in the will for the uncle other than the home and what the man had been given while the brother was alive. The uncle had gambling debts. Susan, the heiress was brought a newspaper from her companion with an ad for a mail order bride. A rancher' s sister-in-law, a mail order bride herself had places the ad and corresponded secretly with Susan.Susan and her friend Nora arranged a way to be stolen away. The rancher wasn't' sure he wanted to marry but was a sucker for a sob story and knew he could not let her be mistreated. Once he protected her he figured she could go back home. But he made her "heart flutter" and she was determined to stay. They all knew that criminals would be coming and it would be dangerous, yet it was the only way Susan could be able to be happy. There are many details in between. In a short story, the characters were well developed. I always would enjoy Morse details but it was a good story. I think it would appeal to women. I am not sure that it has enough violence and specific nasty details for men to enjoy it. I still want to know who the blue-eyed, deeper-living Indian wanted to someday bring to his feels and wonder how wild and feisty she is. He did say it would upset the family, so I am going to look for a 2nd book from Via Leah. I think you will like this one though. Enjoy!

BREED'S MAIL ORDER BRIDE The Morgan Brides Book 2 edition by Cia Leah Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed reading love stories, and I found that family caring for each other was important in the frontier times, shame we don't think that way know or look out for one another, not embarise to show afection for male or female, the series was good to see how the family help each other protective love caring
This story had so much potential. If the author would write a full length novel, I think it would be awesome. But as a short story, there was just too much jammed in there. I also had an issue with the heroines behavior. I wasn't sure that an abused woman, especially during this time period, would act and say the things she did.
With that being said, it was interesting. I really liked Breed. He was a hot as heck alpha.
I read this short story first. The characters are further developed in this second one, but I would still like to see more characterization. The basic plot is not unique, but the characters need to be. They are likeable, but I want to understand them better. How do that grow through their experiences? Again, I'd like to see this expanded into a book. One thing to be aware of-- I was taken aback by the way the main characters took the law into their own hands.
I was a nice clean western romance. I liked that very much. I do wish that it would have been longer. I wanted to know more about the characters and their backgrounds. More descrptions would have been nice too. I just wanted more of it. I did think that the romance part happened a bit fast. It seemed like it was only 3 days for Breed to actually fall in love with his wife. But the story itself was very short so maybe that's all they had time for. Like I said, I just wanted more.
On orders from his deceased father, Breed's brother and sister-in-law arrange for a mail order bride for Breed, knowing full well he has no interest in marrying, and they manage to keep the bride's arrival a secret until the night before she arrives. But, after hearing the horrible circumstances the bride is leaving back east, Breed agrees to a marriage in name only to keep her safe, though his bride Susan hopes to convince him to make the arrangement a bit more permanent. A sweet, quick read. The storyline isn't overly complicated, it is a bit predictable, and there are some editorial errors, but this is a very short story, and it makes a nice historical romance for the length. I'm interested to read the next book in this series, Kato's Christmas Bride.
My grandmother was a mail order bride from Italy and my husbands grandmother was also a mail order bride from Ireland. It has always fascinated me to try and understand how they could leave their family and travel across the ocean, to marry someone they did not know. both of our grandmothers overcame many hardships, lost children and were married all the rest of their lives without seeing there mothers and fathers again. My grandmother was an amazing woman who sang opera in the Milan Opera house . she learned three languages to be able to work with the migrant workers that came up from mexico to work in the beet fields every year. She was also a healer who brewed many different teas and helped all with illness. she could have done so much ib her own country.
There was nothing I found offensive in the book. It was a pleasant way to while away an hour or 2, although it seriously needs a thorough going-over--missed quote marks and grammar like I might have expected from some of Cia Leah's characters in the narrative. However, this doesn't strike me as an extremely well-though-out book. ***SPOILERS AHEAD*** How could Susan have BEEN 2 months pregnant--let alone KNOWN for 2 months she was pregnant--by Christmas if she and Breed had never even seen each other until early November and up until 1 week before Thanksgiving he still hadn't kissed her? Maybe Breed's just not the jealous type, but Cia Leah's time frames left me wondering. Susan also expressed the wish right before Thanksgiving that Breed confide in her. I never saw that it said he did. It seems to me that a very little bit said would have conveyed his confidence in her. All in all, the book is not too bad.
